A chief part of the self improvement movement is waking up early. While there aren't necessarily any health benefits to doing this there are a number of advantages and reasons why people would want to rise early in the morning. The young hours of the morning are quiet and peaceful, giving you opportunity to think about what you will be doing that day. You have time to eat a substantial breakfast, the most valuable mealtime of the day. You get to look at the sunrise everyday. The biggest advantages though are the clearer thoughts you will have throughout the day and the upsurge in production this, as well as the time saved lounging in bed, will supply.
The fact of the issue though is that while a few people are naturally early risers, many individuals are most definitely not. The real question is not whether waking up early is advantageous or not (it clearly is), the question is can a person who isn't a born early riser become one? In other words can early risers be made or are they purely born?
There are plenty of techniques and training people try without success in an effort to change the hour at which they wake up. One tip I've read many times is to organize multiple alarms so that you have to wake up to switch each one off. This doesn't work and I'll tell you why. A person who struggles to wake up will really turn off every alarm…and then go straight back to sleep. Because of the annoyance this causes many won't try it for more than a day or two before giving up all together. Is there a way then that can turn a night owl into a morning lark?
Indeed there is, and it's known as hypnosis. If you're not that familiar with hypnosis allow me to describe the practice and how it does its job. A typical hypnosis session includes a hypnotist (or CD) and one client. They are either seated or lead back, whatever is most comfortable for them. Then the hypnotist will generate a hypnotic trance in the client. This is a deeply calming experience in which the client is in an increased state of attentiveness. They aren't sleeping or out cold, in fact they are aware of every word being spoken. Once in this hypnotic state the hypnotist will place the appropriate suggestions - in this example that the client doesn't just want but NEEDS to wake up early each and every morning.
Why is it these hypnotic commands work where other techniques and conscious effort disappoint? The reason is that hypnosis connects straight to the unconscious mind. The unconscious is the section of the mind that manages your natural reactions. This means that when you wake up at 6:30am, or whatever time you desire, that your natural reaction will be to get up quickly and set about your morning. No more struggle, no more lost time you won't get back. It doesn't even take that many hypnosis sessions to inspire this transformation, a couple of hours of hypnosis go a long way to creating long term alterations.
Visualize yourself in a weeks time. Your alarm goes off and you rise up out of bed, feeling clear minded, relaxed and ready to begin the day. It may seem improbable at this moment but it is entirely possible, nay probable, that you will learn how to wake up early in the morning by using hypnosis.
