Being a student, especially around exam time, is one of the most stressful periods of your life. There’s so much information being thrown at you, on top of social pressures, that it becomes hard to unwind.

The article below highlights some of the most successful ways of relaxing and relieving stress for students.

---

Every student on college goes through tough examination period that is why it is very important to know how to cope with student stress and how to reduce it as much as possible. There are several ways to reduce the stress on college and if you as a student achieve to follow them you will improve your results as well as studying performance. Do not hesitate and wait for stress to be reduced by it self, take action and start managing it now.

The most common and successful stress relief techniques for students on college are:

Sleep: It is quite common to see students missing sleep amidst their busy schedule.
Working for longer hours without sleep makes you less productive apart from ruining health. Adequate amount of sleep itself is a stress buster.

Visualizations: You should have a mental picture of success in order to perform well. See yourself doing well in a particular task which may look difficult for you. This will help you to calm down and detach from what is stressing you.

Exercise: Regular exercise keeps your mind and body fit. Students can practice yoga, walking etc to keep cool and stay relaxed. Joining a gymnasium will also help.

Breathing Exercises: Breathing exercises are a quick way to calm oneself easily. This can be practiced any where for sudden relief from stress, especially for reducing anxiety before or even during tests. Whenever you feel overwhelmed by stress you can feel relieved through breathing exercises.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation: This is a great stress reliever which can be used during tests as well as before bed. This technique teaches tensing and relaxing all muscles until the body parts are completely relaxed. Through this technique you can release stress from your body within seconds, even while physically exhausted.

Music: Music acts as a soothing balm for frayed nerves. It is a powerful stress reliever which has the potential to calm you down and stimulate you according to the demands of the situation. Students can exploit its cognitive benefits also by playing suitable music while studying.

Proper Nutrition: Students tend to underestimate the importance healthy nutritious food. A healthy diet is a wonderful stress management technique and a study aid. It takes you no extra time and keeps you from experiencing diet related mood swings.

Self Hypnosis: It is an effective stress management technique as well as a power productivity tool. You can release tension and stress from your mind and body with its help and sow the seeds of success in your subconscious mind with the power of auto-suggestion.

Positive Thinking and Affirmations: Above all, remain positive in your thoughts, words and actions. Positive thinking and positive words will produce wonderful results in your lives.

Increased Awareness Hypnosis Deepener

Here is an hypnotic deepener that you can use during a self-hypnosis session to increase your awareness or with a client. It has been written by leading hypnotherapist Jon Rhodes who sells both hypnosis scripts and hypnosis mp3s over at his site HypnoBusters.

As with all hypnosis sessions you should get in a comfortable position in a room where you won’t be disturbed.

---

Now I would like you to listen to the sound of my voice…just listen quietly to the sound of my voice... and as you listen to the sound of my voice you may be aware of other sounds too.... sounds inside the building…and sounds from outside...

…I would like you to know that in a strange and contradictory way, these sounds will help you to relax, deeper and deeper…the only sound you need to think about is the sound of my voice... and while you're listening to the sound of my voice you can just simply allow yourself to drift away…drift away to a warm and pleasant place…a relaxing part of the mind…that’s comfortable and pleasant...

…Now whilst you are relaxing more and more, I would like you to become more and more aware of your body...more aware of your hands and where they rest...How your hands feel…are they hot or cold…what are they resting on…

…I would now like you to become aware of your ankles and feet…you may wonder if they will start to feel heavy too, as you... relax... thinking about your breathing for a while...noticing that your breathing is becoming slower and steadier as you relax more and more... slower and steadier... breathing calmly and evenly…

…And as you allow yourself to relax even more now... I wonder if you can sense the beating of your own heart... sensing the beat of your own heart as it calmly pulses…
I would like you to see if you can use the power of your mind to slow that heartbeat down...see if you can use the power of your mind to slow that heartbeat down just a little...so that you can then feel your whole body slowing down...becoming more and more deeply relaxed...

…And you can now become gradually more and more aware of your whole self... aware of your chest and stomach, just sensing how they are feeling now... aware of your legs and feet...just sensing how relaxed they might be…and wondering if it is possible to relax them even more...

…And you may begin to sense the weight of your head...you may notice that the weight of your head may seem to gently increase a little…allowing yourself to relax more and more...deeper and deeper…

... And you may also begin to notice that your face muscles begin to relax...relax and let go... smoothing out...giving you a warm and relaxing feeling...And as you face muscles relax, you find your tongue relaxes…your tongue becomes relaxed and still…helping you mind to become even more relaxed and still…

…And as you continue to sense the beating of your heart and the steadiness of your body's rhythm... you may feel so relaxed and comfortable that you simply cannot be bothered to move...even though you know you easily could... if you wanted to... I know that you easily could, if you wanted to... but you simply cannot be bothered to even try... allowing yourself to just be... relaxed and relaxing even more now...

Stress Relief For Busy Professionals

When you’re working 30+ hours a week (with several hours of travel time on top of that), leisure time is rare and scarce. That is why everyone who works long hours should learn at least a couple of quick relaxation techniques. When time is of the essence you can perform one of the hypnotic techniques below and almost instantly relieve yourself of stress and anxiety. Just follow the steps below and learn them for yourself!

---

Who could not use more relaxation in life? From everyday stress like work schedules, kids, or traffic to big life changes like moving, divorce, or the death of a loved one, stress relief is a much needed goal for a healthy, balanced life. There are so many wonderful avenues to bring about stress relief. Exercise, going for a hike in the woods, seeing a good movie, or listening to your favorite music (to name a few) would all bring great stress relief. But these things might be a bit too time consuming or inconvenient if you have a busy schedule. One of the all-time best and quickest stress relievers in the world is hypnosis. And one of the easiest things to learn is self hypnosis.

The powerful thing about hypnosis is that quiet little suggestions can get into the subconscious mind, and if we accept them, they can turn into problems or, in the opposite direction, they can turn into healthy and productive solutions in life. All hypnosis is truly self hypnosis because you are always in charge of what you allow into your mind.

And, the really good news is that you can consciously learn some very helpful, stress relieving self hypnosis techniques that are quick and easy. Even if you only have less than a minute, you can use a self hypnosis technique to begin the stress relief process. The only requirement is that you use your mind to give yourself suggestions — it's that easy! Let the stress relief begin!

Self Hypnosis Technique #1: The Waterfall

This hypnosis technique takes only a minute or less and is a powerful stress reliever. Take a deep breath. Imagine a relaxing waterfall of energy either in front or behind you (whichever feels best to you). Imagine this waterfall is flowing with healing, relaxing energy. You might imagine it as cool or warm water, as a stream of air, or simply soft, relaxing energy. However you want to imagine it is perfect. You might see it in your mind's eye, or feel it, or simply know that it is there. Now imagine that you step into this beautiful flowing waterfall of relaxing energy and it flows from the to of your head all the way down your body, flowing over your shoulders, your back, your stomach, your legs, all the way down to the bottoms of your feet, and down to the center of the earth.

The Waterfall Technique is powerful and helpful if you need a quick pick-me-up. You can flesh out the background, too. For ultimate stress relief, maybe you imagine you're in a tropical forest or on a gorgeous beach. You can imagine lush surroundings that are relaxing and comforting to you to round out your refreshing hypnosis experience.

Self Hypnosis Technique #2: Breathing

Another super quick and easy hypnosis technique is (yes, you guessed it!) breathing. Simple deep breathing is one of the best starting points for any hypnosis technique (see technique #1). Begin by suggesting to yourself to just breathe. As soon as you give yourself this suggestion, you might notice that you take a deeper breath than your last one. Imagine that you can fill both lungs all the way to capacity, letting the air reach even the bottom region of your lungs. You can also imagine that you can breathe into remote body parts, like your feet or your hands. Imagine that you can breathe into a sore spot in your body and revitalize that spot with the cleansing fresh oxygen. This is the easiest hypnosis technique of them all, and the best stress buster in you only have a few seconds.

Self Hypnosis Technique #3: The Mini Power Nap

This hypnosis technique takes about 5 minutes or less, but the power in it is amazing. If you're feeling tired, run down, or generally lethargic, this is the technique for you! You'll need a quiet place to sit or lie down for just five minutes. If you're very tired, sitting might be better so that you don't fall asleep (hypnosis is so very relaxing!).

Start by taking a deep, cleansing breath, and notice any tension in your body. Give yourself the suggestion that any and all tension can simply let go, and in it's place, direct a relaxing flow of energy to ease and relax your body. Bring you attention to your breathing, and imagine that you can bring yourself to the center of your being. You might imagine a beautiful garden or a powerful guide at your side or a safe cave at the center of your being. Anything that makes you feel good, safe, and centered is perfect hypnosis setting.

Now give yourself the simple suggestion that you have five (or four or three) minutes for a super-charged hypnosis power nap. You might say to yourself, "I have this time here and now to allow myself a relaxing power nap to recharge and energize my mind, body, and spirit." Let your eyes close and keep following your breath down to the center of your being. Allow this self hypnosis technique to relax your eyes and your mind. Tell yourself that it's OK to let go and allow relaxation to flow through you for this short hypnosis power nap. Keep suggesting that this is a hypnosis power nap, and that when you are ready to open your eyes, you will feel refreshed, recharged and energized.

And there you have it! Three simple and easy to learn stress relieving self hypnosis techniques that you can do almost anywhere and any time. Use each technique as you are inspired for easy and quick stress relief. Happy hypnosis!

Hypnosis Magic

Derren Brown has become amazing popular over recent years with his unique brand of psychological illusions. He himself admits he is not a physic, so exactly how does he perform this sort of mental magic? It is in fact just another form of hypnosis known as covert or underground hypnosis that anyone can learn for themselves. See for yourself by learning the simple trick below.

---

Hypnotic suggestions can be very effective in aiding magical illusions. Good magicians often tell stories and use other diversionary tactics in order to draw us in and alter our perceptions of what they are actually doing. They often use patter, taking our mind away from what they are doing, to create a mind blowing magical experience for us. Derren Brown uses hypnosis as a distraction of how he really performs his magical tricks. For example he used genuine hypnosis principals when he apparently sapped a boxer’s strength through the use of suggestion so that he could no longer lift a girl. However this was not what achieved the effect. All he did was control the situation and the girl made it more difficult to be lifted by moving away and relaxing certain muscles. However he set the mood as a hypnotic experiment and people were distracted away from the fact that he was performing a very simple illusion.

Hypnotic suggestions can be used in their own right for the basis of magic trickery. Here I will show you one such illusion, but first I will explain some hypnotic principals.

Within the disciplines of hypnosis and hypnotherapy there is an area called covert or conversational hypnosis. This is where suggestions are cleverly placed within apparently normal conversations without the knowledge of the recipient. For example a person utilsing covert hypnosis for selling their product may say something like “…so you will understand the power and usefulness of (their product) by now”. Do you see what they are doing? They have emphasized the words “(their product) by now”. This will be interpreted by the subconscious mind as “buy now”. If they were selling self help CD’s for example, the brain would receive the message “self help CD’s buy now”, without being consciously aware. This doesn’t ‘make’ people buy the product, but it can increase the likelihood, as people may feel intuitively compelled to buy. Of course they may or may not follow this intuition, but it greatly enhances the chances of a sale.

There are many other techniques to slip in suggestions within apparently normal conversation, but this is enough for the purposes of this trick.

For this trick you need absolutely nothing except a volunteer. I personally love tricks that you can perform impromptu without the need for any preparation or props.

Ask your volunteer if they have any dice on them. Unless they are very strange they are likely to say ‘no’. “Well in that case we’ll have to manage with an imaginary die for now”.

In this trick we are going to covertly suggest to them to pick a specific number on an imaginary die so that we can appear to read their mind. I find the easiest number to covertly suggest is the number 4, but you can experiment and use other numbers if you wish.

At the beginning of the illusions I will say something like “I have a trick Four you”, slightly emphasizing the word “four”.

I may also say “do you have a dice Four me to borrow?” When they say no I may reply “it’s ok Fourget it”. Again I slightly emphasise the use of “four” in each instance. Don’t overdo it though, or else they may be on to you!

I then give them instructions to vividly imagine a die being rolled in their minds. I may gesture a rolling motion with four fingers held up. I may also gesture counting four dots by pointing my finger four times. Now I ask them to close their eyes – the last things they saw was me gesturing four.

I ask them to imagine a die rolling. Get them to see it really clearly in their minds. Really dramatise this part. Act like you are reading their mind, and you are concentrating. Perhaps some elaborate story about learning these powers from a gypsy mind reader or something will help build the interest. Now ask them to look really carefully at the number for(!) you when it lands. They will be amazed when you correctly ‘read’ their mind and tell them they are looking at a four.

Of course friends and family will think you have got lucky and will demand you do it again. The choice is yours. This illusion doesn’t work every time. You can gamble and repeat again, or probably safer to quit while your ahead! If you are tempted to repeat the trick you can tell them that you can only perform this trick Two times in a day because it saps all your psychic strength…any more is too much. You get the picture, yes?!

The thing with this trick is that it isn’t guaranteed to work every time. However it does work often – far more statistically than a 1 in 6 roll of a die. I would estimate that it works 70 or 80 percent of the time for me. One secret that seems to help with this trick is by doing it with the utmost confidence. Believe that it will work and it is far more likely that it will. Be committed and lay yourself on the line a little. Don’t worry if they pick another number. Laugh it off with the rest of them and then quickly change the subject!
