4. Relax more. If your nail chewing habit is caused chiefly by stress and anxiety then you can combat this by taking more time out to relax. This should help you lower your stress and anxiety levels and make you less likely to bite your nails.

5. Keep your hands busy. It's a lot harder to bite your nails when your hands are busy drawing a picture or lifting weights. Find a hobby that keeps your hands busy and you'll have less opportunity to bite your nails.

How To Wake Up Early

Take a minute to imagine how much more productive you would be if you were able to wake up just an hour or two earlier in the morning. They'd be nothing and nobody to distract you from getting on with whatever you want! The only things stopping you are the sleeping habits that you've built up over the years. You may have tried in the past to reverse these habits but without the proper techniques that it's very hard to do. Fortunately I'm going to share with you five tips that will make waking up early every morning a piece of cake!

1. Go to sleep earlier! This is perhaps the most important of these tips. Realistically you can't expect to go to sleep at 1am and then be able to wake up as fresh as a daisy at 5am. A good rule of thumb is to aim for seven hours sleep. That means that if you want to wake up at 5am you should be going to sleep at 10pm.

2. Build a routine. The human mind responds well to routine and quickly forms routine into habit. In the example above I said that you should be asleep by 10pm, well that means you should also be in bed by 9:30pm at the latest. Even before then though you have an opportunity to prepare your mind and body for sleep. A good routine would be to finish all chores and tasks by 8pm and then to start unwinding by perhaps taking a bath and the reading a book. Try doing this for a few days and you will soon find that you actually start to become sleepy as soon as you pick up your book as your mind knows it is soon time to fall asleep according to the routine you have been following.

3. Set your alarm and place it at the other end of the room! The snooze button will probably be your worst enemy in your efforts to wake up earlier. That is why you should set for alarm for the exact time you want to wake up (don't try and trick yourself by setting it early and then snoozing for thirty minutes) and put it somewhere where you'll have to get up to turn it off. You might even want to set up two or three alarms in this manner!

4. Drink a drink. After you've been sleeping for seven hours your body will be dehydrated. That is why it's a good idea to put a glass of water by your bed. As soon as you wake up (or turn off those alarms!) drink the full glass of water. This will hydrate and energize your body, making you feel a lot more awake and less likely to hop back into bed.

5. Program your mind. This may sound a tricky task since you're not a robot or computer, but you can actually program your mind with a technique known as hypnosis. Hypnosis speaks to the part of your mind which holds yours habits and routines which is why it's so effective for people looking to quit smoking or lose weight. Bodybuilding and hypnosis may sound like strange bedfellows but there is an increasing amount of evidence which suggests that hypnosis can actually help someone to build muscle. What is bodybuilding hypnosis and how exactly does it work?

There has been recorded use of hypnosis as far back as the time of Ancient Egypt, where it was used as an anesthetic, and it is still being used for this purpose today. Hypnosis works by quietening the conscious mind and communicating to the subconscious - this is where long term memories as well as habits and instinctive reactions are believed to be held. Once this level of communication has begun, the hypnotist will then place hypnotic suggestions into the subconscious concerning the goals of their client. For example, if you were a bodybuilder wishing to gain more muscle, the hypnotist could "program" your subconscious to improve your eating habits, increase your motivation to workout and explain to the subconscious that you wish to become more muscular. Over the course of a few sessions these suggestions begin to sink in until they become habit.

From this simple fantasy you will actually start to experience excitement (perhaps your heart is racing), almost as if this has actually happened! Well creative visualization can also be used to build muscle by imagining working out step-by-step. A study that was done specifically on this kind of visualization showed that those who only used creative visualization experienced a 13.4% increase in strength. Now this was only on finger exercises and muscle mass wasn't taken into consideration but that is still an astonishing result. While the science behind this is rather new, one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time used visualization to tell his body he wanted it to grow more muscle. Can You Lose Control In Hypnotic Trance?

If you are considering hypnosis, then this is an exciting time for you. I have run a clinical practice with advanced hypnotherapy in Cardiff for several years. And clients usually have questions about hypnotherapy. They are curious to know why hypnosis is different, and how it can help.

Wherever you are, your concerns and questions are probably the same:

  • What is hypnotherapy?
  • Will I be in control?
  • Will "it" work for me?
  • Is it safe?

You could write a whole book on these. So for now, let's look at them in turn.

Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis to create change. More specifically, "trance" is the fixation of attention. Have you ever been a million miles away? I remember watching the TV show "Lost" and being completely "lost" wondering what was going on. I was totally absorbed in the characters and plot. When I watched an episode, nothing could have awoken me from that "TV Trance".

In fact I am still in a trance, trying to figure out just what happened in the final season.

When our first baby was born, I was literally mesmerized: I would stare at him for hours without being distracted. Cute babies are very hypnotic. They absorb all your attention for long periods of time, no matter what problems you might otherwise be facing.

That's all trance is: the fixation of attention.

However, in hypnosis I use a specialised form of trance that gets you even more focused. In this state, you are able to literally affect the way you think and feel.

Hypnosis helps you enter this state where your focus is absorbed on the outcome you have. A hypnotist typically uses several techniques to help you change. These might include:

  1. Positive suggestions
  2. Visualisation or mental rehearsal
  3. Bringing back to life happy, positive feelings or a feeling of increased motivation ("Revivification")

You are already doing all of these all the time anyway. Every time you have a thought or engage in self-talk, you are programming your mind. That is why you are entirely safe with hypnosis. A good hypnotist works with you to find out the problem, and how you want to be different. He then scripts new suggestions for you so you, in effect, say them to yourself.

That also means that a hypnotist can never make you think, do or be anything you don't want to. Sometimes people think that they can come to see me and I will push a switch to make them stop smoking. Not so!

What I can do is work with a person who is motivated to change. I help them "rescript" the way they talk and feel, so they can faster achieve their goal.

Any form of therapy is a relationship. And the degree of change that you experience is the degree to which you engage with that therapy. It is vital to understand this because a hypnotherapist wants to help you help yourself. And the only way to do that is to approach the therapy in a spirit of positive expectation and participation.

One of my Virtual Gastric Band weight loss hypnotherapy clients e-mailed me recently to tell me, "I am surprised. I found I was eating less and finding it easy to resist chocolate. But it seemed natural to me. I thought I was going to be a robot!"

You are not going to become a robot, but you can increase your belief and motivation to make change.

Hypnosis is about getting into a state of concentration, and a hypnotist can help you do that. In that state you can consistently access the latent resources you had all along to solve your problem. You tap into your inner strength. It means that you will learn to have much more control over your mind, over your breathing and over how calm and relaxed you feel.

Sometimes a person calls me and is anxious about hypnosis and they also are anxious to change. I say to them, "Look, I can teach you how to relax deeply if you are willing to learn. It means you will finally be in control of how you feel. You can even learn to improve the way you feel and take more positive actions. Would you like to have more control than you've ever had before?"

Hypnotherapy is about putting you back in control. If you have a fear, habit or addiction that is frustrating you or ruining your life, then consider hypnotherapy. Cardiff is where my practice is based, and there are other excellent qualified hypnotherapists all over the world.

Hypnosis was recognised and approved by both the British Medical Association (BMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) way back in the 1950s. In 1957, Pope Pius XII even endorsed it for medical use. So it has a proven record, and unlike many drugs today, hypnosis has no known negative side-effects.

One last thing: hypnosis is very similar to day-dreaming and, as such, is very safe. The most important consideration is that you e-mail or call the hypnotherapist you want to work with and chat with them. All therapists specialise in certain areas, and you won't necessarily feel rapport with all of them. So you need to call up and find someone that you feel 100% comfortable with.

Writing Self Hypnosis Scripts

Hypnosis is an extremely effective way to make positive lasting changes in your life. Through hypnosis you can talk directly with your subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is where your habits are formed, believes developed and behaviors can be altered. With hypnosis the conscious mind is bypassed and suggestions go directly to the subconscious mind. It is very important to use the language of the subconscious mind. This is the language of emotions and feelings and what the subconscious mind will respond to.

Use positive statements when writing a self hypnosis script. As an example do not say I hate smoking, instead say I love being healthy and strong, being able to take complete full breaths. If you suggest a negative, the subconscious mind will only reinforce that negative as it takes things very literal. What happens is your subconscious mind will first have to think about the act of smoking and then think about not doing it. This is really a thinking process of the conscious mind.

It is always a good idea to say the suggestion several times in several different ways. Using weight loss as an example, you could say the following. I enjoy the feeling of being slim and trim, I love the way people look at the healthy me, my body feels healthy and fit.

It helps if you can make things personal. The reason for this is the subconscious mind understands emotions and personal is usually emotionally based. Weave your feelings, hopes and ambitions into the script. It is also best to use terms like "my health" "I will" instead of terms like "your health". This only applies when make a script for yourself.

When writing your script follow a logical flow. This means that you should say things in a way that would be easy to actually do. As an example you could say "each day my energy level increase as my stress level decreases, I can feel day by day my life is improved" instead of "I am full of energy with no stress". As you can see the second suggestion is abrupt with no flow to it.

Use deepening suggestions that will not create fear. An example of a deepening suggestion that could create fear is saying "you are walking down the steps into the dark basement, going deeper under ground". A better deepening suggestion would be to say "it is a cold night and you are slowly pulling the covers up. As they pass your feet you can feel them becoming warm and relaxed". The idea is to have comfortable, safe feeling, deepening suggestions.

Make your suggestions as simple and clear as possible. Always have your suggestions look ahead to the future. The future can be one minute from now, but they should always be forward looking.

If you can paint a verbal picture this can be extremely helpful. Paint the picture of the person after they have achieved the goal. As an example say "you are walking down the street as you see an old friend and you stop to talk, the friend pulls out a cigarette and offers you one. You politely decline and as you are declining, you take a deep, full breath feeling the clean, fresh air flow into your healthy, strong lungs." Use descriptive words to help create more emotion.

These suggestions are just some basic guidelines for creating a hypnosis script. Start simple and build from there.

THE BEGINNING, REVELATION

Do you feel like life is passing you by and you are a spectator and not a participator? Are you sitting at the bus stop and the bus just keeps on going by and not stopping. Dude, here is a thought, you are not in control! You are being controlled. You are not standing out, you are standing down. Yes, you heard me right. Now, ask yourself what am I gonna do about it? Do some self evaluation. What do you want out of life? Why do you not have it? How are you going to get it? Wouldn't it be wonderful to find a solution to all the issues that affect your well being? Well, Don't quit now! Don't be close minded before you even get started. Today is the day to begin your life changing journey. Now let's break the mold and start changing your direction of travel. No one can do it for you, You Have To Do It. Are you ready? OK, that is what I like to hear. Let us start by learning a little about why we are the way we are.

ARE WE SECRETLY BEING HYPNOTIZED?


There are people,and I used to be one, that walk thru life playing the lottery with their future. It is like there is an anointed few that get all the breaks and win life's grand prize every day. It could be they are just living and thinking out of the box. They don't think or bend to every blast of hot wind that comes along. There is a reason why you are where you are today. It is because you just don't care,you are flat out lazy or you are believing the flood of suggestive social economic categorizing that envelopes you every day. Let us take a small peek at what I am saying. As children we are programed, brainwashed, hypnotized, if you will, to be a product of our environment. For example, if we were born poor, we are told by statisticians that, according to statistics we will always be poor because history proves it and that makes it a fact.

If you are employed in the common labor market you are told that you will never make management no matter how hard you work. It is just not within your grasp. If you are mid management you will never make VP because you don't have the education or you don't have the abilities to get you there. Television constantly hits you with commercial ads and programs that devalue who you are, what you own, what you desire and what you believe. Just think about it, if you drive automobile A and not automobile B, which is supposedly the safest, then you are not a responsible parent. You don't care about your family safety because you don't drive B. Not taking in to consideration of being able to afford an over priced product. If you use credit card A instead of credit card B then you are not mentally fit to make sound financial decisions on your own. Whats in your pocket? If you wear brand B and not brand A then you are not being a responsible consumer and not being in style. Not taking in the poor quality of the product A. That is only a few examples of how we are unknowingly being mentally dominated, suggestively hypnotized, into believing that we are not capable of making sound decisions for ourselves. We are puppets that can be psychologically bombarded and bullied into believing what ever we are told. There is some truth to that statement, just look at the morality and the buying trends of the American public. Maybe we need to be taking some mental notes here. The point here is start being the dominator not the dominated. This is targeted psychological mental warfare with your life style at stake. Start thinking out of the box. You be the one that is in control by the power of persuasion and not the one getting the emotional and mental beating everyday.

HYPNOSIS FACT OR FICTION?

Have you ever just gone to the mall, set on the benches and watched people? Now that is what I call entertainment. You have to ask yourself why people do what they do? What makes them tick? People at the mall look like ants at a picnic with a food mission on their mind. They follow the same paths one behind the other like worker ants. What makes millions of people buy one manufacturers brand and only a few buy an others brand? Is it mental manipulation or subliminal hypnosis that we are constantly exposed to? It has been said that repetition is the mother of all learning. So if you are told over and over again that you are not capable of being anything more than a programed zombie, after a while you begin to believe it. This is the beginning of mind manipulation, hypnosis if you will. Your average eighteen year old watches approximately 180 hrs of television and listens to 235 hrs of music a month.You tell me where we are getting our mentoring from. You can take that as a positive or a negative.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But if you could take just a small portion of that power of persuasive conversational hypnosis and focus it in a positive way to better yourself, your family, your financial life, would you be willing to do it? People use hypnosis everyday to better themselves. They get hypnotized to quit smoking, to loose weight, to regain their memory about their past, to help overcome a mental meltdown caused from some type of psychological trauma. The fact of the matter is that the majority of people on this planet have to struggle thru each day trying to make ends meet. The difference between those that have it all and those that don't is either those that have it were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, or they are living off of 2nd or 3rd generation money or they have found the secretes to becoming a success. These fundamentals for success are for anyone to use if you can find them. But keep in mind that success comes from applying ones self. If Jack can find some way of making someones elses life a little better or a little easier he feels it will be worth all the hard work he has invested. So if someway or somehow you are helped in anyway Then great, that is so awesome, now go and share it with someone else and don't expect anything in return. Enjoy life it is too short to waste.
